LED technology is constantly improving, and Powertac's Sabre penlight just took a leap forward. This new second generation design is brighter, throws further, and comes in a smaller body than its predecessor. With improvements to every major area, the Sabre Gen II may just be the most powerful AAA-powered penlight in the business. The Sabre Gen II can throw as far as 111 m, adding more than 20 m of reach to the original Sabre's design. And Powertac shaved a half-inch off of its body length, which now clocks in under 5". That's smaller than the average ball point pen!
The more batteries you feed it, the brighter the Sabre Gen II's beam gets. One AAA will fire up a 168 lumen beam, but the Sabre really gets roaring when you add a second AAA. Then it steps up to 239 lumens, putting it in league with a class of much larger flashlights. Select from high, low, or strobe modes to get the brightness best suited to your surroundings.
The Sabre Gen II can easily withstand harsh environments due to its expertly-crafted aluminum body. Crafted from the same lightweight, durable metal as airplanes, each flashlight is then anodized with the thickest possible coating, protecting it against drops and falls up to 2 m. Precision machining also makes the Sabre waterproof. It can operate safely under 2 m of water, making it worthy of the highest possible waterproofness rating of IPX-8. A strike bezel complements the strobe mode and makes the Sabre useful for self-defense, while the carry clip makes it easy to stow in your pocket. And a rubberized grip means you can hang on to the Sabre Gen II even in wet or filthy environments.

PowerTac began with the idea of changing the portable lighting industry forever. We felt the current products, technology, and quality was outdated and didnÃ¢t meet consumer expectations. In 2006, utilizing the newest high powered LED technology, the business was started in Raleigh, North Carolina USA.
We combined our tactical and mission critical concept with privileged access to cutting edge LED products from Cree, Inc. in North Carolina, USA. The practice initially involved us working along with different suppliers to manufacture products under different names, and it went successfully well in the beginning.
As the market demand changed, and required higher quality products with advanced technology, we found the only way to achieve this was to branch off and fully control the production process from R&D to assembly work, so we started the PowerTac brand. As a result, we began our very own factory and R&D center.
PowerTac was built on the ideas gathered by our marketing team from Police officers, Military personnel, Extreme outdoorsmen, Hunters, and everyday individuals we ran across. We promise to continue to develop our brand with our consumers hopes and wishes in mind first.
