Powertac's Lance penlight just got an upgrade: longer beam throw in a shorter housing, with comparable brightness and runtimes. This new 2nd generation still preserve the features that made the original Lance a dependable everyday carry: it can run on either 1x or 2x AA batteries; it has a rubberized grip to help you retain control even in damp or dirty situations; and it's waterproof and impact resistant. But upgrading the Lance to CREE's XP-G2 R5 LED allows the Gen II design to throw its beam almost 40 m further, while shaving half an inch off its length.
The Lance Gen II is unusual in that it can run on one or two AA cells. You only need a single AA to fire this light up, emitting a maximum of 188 lumens. Throw in another AA to access the full power of the Lance, stepping up to 290 lumens. You don't have to go out of your way to buy the unusual cells required by some flashlights. And because AAs are nice and slim, the Lance Gen II is right at home in your pocket, purse, or pack.
You don't have to worry about taking good care of the Lance Gen II. It's equally at home on a battlefield, construction site, or walking your dog in the rain. That's because its premium IPX-8 rating enables it to get dunked under 2 meters of water without flinching. Add to that a hard-anodized, aircraft grade aluminum body, and you can even drop the Lance Gen II as far as 2 m without damaging it. That's a straight drop from eye level!

We combined our tactical and mission critical concept with privileged access to cutting edge LED products from Cree, Inc. in North Carolina, USA. The practice initially involved us working along with different suppliers to manufacture products under different names, and it went successfully well in the beginning.
As the market demand changed, and required higher quality products with advanced technology, we found the only way to achieve this was to branch off and fully control the production process from R&D to assembly work, so we started the PowerTac brand. As a result, we began our very own factory and R&D center.
