I know the H6R is not specifically marketed as a “running light”, but I have found it to be an excellent choice. (Will also be great for garage work or even just walking the dog at night.) A lot of people are focused on max lumens / throw distance, and that might be relevant e.g. hunting or search and rescue, but the H6R is definitely an all-rounder.
– The new perforated headband is lightweight and feels great (The removable top strap is a welcome option, especially for technical trails.)
– The new mount allows you to easily remove the light and use it handheld (or even tailstand in a tent). The mount also allows for 180 degree easy “clicky” adjustment. (When you are in a group you can easily flip the light up when facing someone so as not to blind them.)
– I prefer the covered USB-C (universal) port to the rubber cover on other models.
– The spotlight has a nice flood area around it and has a memory function (even on the highest mode).
– There is no noticeable step-down on either the high spot or high flood, with excellent battery run time. (Turbo spot will step down after heating up, but not as quick as other models I have used.)
– The best thing about the H6R (in my opinion) is the high CRI flood. Other brands offer high CRI options (CRI 80), while the H6R is claimed to be CRI 95! The colour rendering is excellent and will be easy on the eyes even with prolonged use. The 4000k light works better than the “harsher” white lights in the rain. (Yes, I actually tested it in the rain earlier in the week.)
– The “double-click” straight to red light is a welcome addition for camping / preserving night-vision. etc. etc.
So just buy it! No I do not work for TrustFire 🙂
